First United Methodist Church of Jefferson is hosting its first "Books Alive!" event Nov. 3 through Nov. 5 as a celebration of Christian and inspirational literature and music.

Admission is free and donations are accepted. The first 200 people who attend event will receive free books courtesy of Random House and Belle Books.

Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the church's mission and outreach programs. First Methodist was instrumental in coordinating relief efforts for displaced families of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
