Association floats signs warning of invasive aquatic plant
By BRIDGETTE R. OUTTEN, News Messenger
The Texas Greater Caddo Lake Association has begun deploying floating warning signs to inform people who frequent the watershed of giant salvinia, an aggressive invasive aquatic plant.
The signs represent the latest effort to stop the spread of the what has been called "the world's worst aquatic weed," which can block waterways by forming thick mats. It can also hinder sunlight and choke out other vegetation.
