The lease in the high rise apartment on Nov Hill was about to expire. I received a call from Tempest who was back east to pack up the place and sell the furniture. There was no need for a permanent place and she would be on the road for at least one year in a show, “Burlesque USA,” starring with Red Buttons and Mary Amsterdam.

I flew into gear and called a lady friend who lived on Nob Hill. She owned one of only three private townhouses in the area plus matching black and white Rolls-Royces. When I arrived at the building the doorman said he had just let my maid in; she was waiting in the elevator. It was my lady friend who was not the dress-up, showoff type. I will be doing a story on her later.
