The Marshall City Commission will consider tonight Commissioner Katie Jones' request for an audit report of the expenditure of the hotel occupancy tax funds under the contract with Marshall Chamber of Commerce to operate the Convention and Visitor Development program.

The commission meeting will begin after the 6 p.m. workshop session at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Besides the audit request, commissioners will also consider Ms. Jones' request to move the CVD office out of the chamber and establish an office within the city's organization. They will also consider her request to temporarily suspend hotel occupancy tax funds allotted for CVD operations managed by the chamber.

Ms. Jones, who recently resigned from the chamber board, said in a previous interview with Marshall News Messenger , that some "hard, tough questions need to be answered" since the chamber has been accused by former CVD Director Patsy Dreesen of misusing CVD funds in 2001.

She also said she wanted to withhold funds because "Any taxpayers money going to the Chamber needs to be held until we see where it's going."
