Mark Williams, Refuge manager, stated “ this is the beginning steps of the complete opening of the Refuge, and I’m excited to see it get started”. Jay Webb, Interim-Chairman of the Friends group commented that “since the Refuge is not yet completely transferred to US Fish and Wildlife by the US Army, a limited opening consisting of volunteer led tours of the Refuge is the best way to get interested visitors on the property so they may see what is in their back yard”.
