By Gail K Beil It wasnt the quality of the clay in Harrison County that made it possible for the city to support as many as 13 potteries in 1996. Most white clay mines played out by the 1930s. It was the quality of the potters, kiln operators and other artisans who had supported potteries for more than a century and drew new ones to town.
