What People Think About Marshall -- submitted by Carolyn Lindsay
I have an art studio in the Weisman Center. Today a young man was in the studio just to browse,talk and visit. He and his wife had just moved near Marshall after serving with the armed forces. He was a native of Pennsylvania originally. The conversation turned to the likes and dislikes of Marshall, Texas. One of the bitterest complaints he had to offer is how dirty our city and its outlying areas are - and "no one seems to care", he said. This reminded me of Phyllis'article on the trash cans near the Austin Street Grille. It requires people who care to handle such situations, i.e., city employees, city government and individuals with pride in their community. These things seem to be sorely lacking in our town. I wish it were different. Marshall could be the cleanest city in Texas - if only we all cared! Carolyn Lindsay
