Image Watch 004c: Why can't the City do its job? -- submitted by Phyllis Bailey
Friday evening, after leaving Austin Street Grill, restaurant patron Jodie Beavers and her husband had to quickly jump in their car to avoid being stung by the giant swarm of bees hovering over the can. Although we have watched and complained about the debris, on Friday evening it was still there, a week later. Why it remained and the two trash receptacles next to it had been emptied, remains a mystery. Although the rubbish was removed the lids were thrown on the sidewalk and the liners were not replaced. Will they ever return?
On Monday morning the trash was still there, and in an attempt to remove the stagnant smell, and offensive look, local Central Perks owner, Robert Sorich was the Good Samaritan that cleaned it up, for the sake of his own business, located inside the City's Weisman Center.
