Ron and I have talked about that day on a number of occasions. Although we’ve been friends since the first grade, neither of us knew the other was residing in Austin at the time. I had moved to Austin earlier in 1966 after three years in the Army and a year at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches. I thought Ron was still at Austin College in Sherman. Had no idea he was messing around with slide rules and drafting instruments in the Architecture School at UT with the likes of ex-Marine Charlie Whitman.
