Marshall City Manager Frank Johnson made a public apology to Philadelphia Eagles football player Ed Jasper Thursday night at the city commission meeting regarding his delay in providing information to Marshall Independent School District concerning tax delinquent lots Jasper wants to develop for housing.

“Before I give my report,” he said. “I feel it is appropriate for me to make a comment. This has been on my mind.

“I would like to extend a public apology to Mr. Ed Jasper regarding this problem of my action or inaction.” Because Jasper was not there to hear it, Johnson said he would make a personal apology to Jasper the next time he has contact with him.

“I realize how I didn't fully understand (and appreciate) Mr. Jasper's timing to accomplish this,” Johnson said. He said it would have been simple for him to give the information to the school district in a prompt manner, but failed to do so.
