The May 25, 2006 Editorial in the Marshall News Messenger states: “We have only one concern, but it is an important one. That is simply this: Who is going to make certain that, after we have paid $40,000 for a tourism study, we vigorously begin to implement the suggestions?

This needs to be decided before the money is paid. A plan that is made but not utilized is almost worse than no plan at all. We must all be committed to the changes that need to be made, or they will never be made.

Now let's get to it. “

The Marshall Tourism Task Force 2006 fully agrees with this statement. In fact, all of our efforts to date have been focused on ensuring that the work of the consultant will result in a clear understandable action plan that can be executed by the city and the community. The final assignment for the Task Force is to monitor and report to the City Commission and the community, the execution of that action plan. The action plan will document the task, responsible organization, responsible person, due date and the current status. This action plan will be given high visibility.
