The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that the government can block development on land that can be miles away from wetlands, but that decision doesn't appear to apply to Marshall area lakes, said Greater Caddo Lake Association board member Jack Canson.

"At first glance, we won't be affected by that particular decision," said Canson, who is also a colleague of the Caddo Lake Institute, in a phone interview Monday evening. "...This is a narrow case and a narrow decision (regarding) wetlands that are isolated."
