Texas Supreme Court rules in Marshall water dispute
By MIKE ELSWICK, Managing Editor
The Texas Supreme Court on Friday issued a ruling that did not provide a clear cut legal victory to either side in a long-running water use dispute between the city of Marshall and Caddo Lake interests, according to Marshall City Commission Chairman Ed Smith III.
After nearly two years of deliberation, the court issued a ruling on a case that pitted the city of Marshall and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality against the Caddo Lake Institute, the city of Uncertain and other lake groups. Smith said the 26-page ruling was being reviewed Friday afternoon by the city's legal counsel on the case in Austin.
