This poem was written by someone very close to Deloris. Although a talented writer, this lady needed something to shock her into artistic expression. One little snake bite was all it took. Take another look one year later.

And now the poem:

For 50 years she gardened
Till she made a big mistake
It wasn't leaves at all
But a big ol' ugly snake
He bit her on the thumb
Her hand it started swellin'
And what happens next
I guess there's just no tellin'
No one really knows
Why that serpent did attack her
And Martha wouldn't drive fast
For fear of Mr.Cracker
But everything turned out ok
Martha's license had no suspension
It turned out to be
