The first ever T-Bone Walker Blues Fest is scheduled for June 17 at Music City Texas Theater in the legendary performers birthplace of Linden, Texas.
This all day Fest will celebrate the musical contribution of Daddy of the Blues, Aaron Thibeaux T-Bone Walker, a cultural icon acclaimed among the greatest musical influences of all time. Walker is credited with introducing the electric guitar to blues music and for shaping the melodic landscape of today.
The T-Bone Walker Blues Fest will feature the ultimate blues mastery of Keb Mo, Grammy award winner for his blues albums Just Like You and Slow Down. His eighth studio release, Suitcase will be released on June 13. Also appearing on stage is Kenny Wayne Shepherd. This Shreveport, Louisiana natives multiple Grammy nominations have earned him a place among the great blues musicians of this generation. Gary Nicholson, whose songs have appeared in the movies Urban Cowboy, Message in a Bottle and Major League, has earned twenty-six ASCAP awards as a writer and publisher.
Alongside these big named blues gurus will be a stellar lineup including: The Bluebirds, Diddley Squat, Bobby Oliver & the Jam City Revue, Dee Dee Williams, Betty Lewis and The Executives, and Coyote Blue. For a complete listing of artists and bios visit www.musiccitytexas.org.
