Keep your fingers crossed.
Marshall may be a possible filming site for Denzel Washington's movie, "The Great Debaters," Geraldine Mauthe, Marshall Convention and Visitor Development director, told Main Street board members during their meeting this week.
She said Kaye Rowan-Young with Weinstein Movie Production Company was in the area this week promoting sites for the movie directed by Washington.
"She asked for our help in looking for and contacting people for (various) locations," Ms. Mauthe said. "She came to check out spots than can be used. This is her fourth trip to Marshall. I think we'll see that movie is made in this area."
The Great Debaters is a drama based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College who inspired his students in 1935 to form the school's first debate team. The team went on to challenge Harvard University in the national championship.
