The Girlfriends are coming to Marshall.

Pulpwood Queens founder Kathy L. Patrick said this week the club's annual Girlfriend Weekend in January – this year attended by some 600 people and 30 nationally-known authors – would be based in Marshall in 2007, with The Marshall News Messenger as the major sponsor.

The Marshall is also sponsoring the event, which has previously been based in Jefferson.

"We have just outgrown our venue," Ms. Patrick said. "To take it to the next level we just had to find somewhere that could accommodate more people and events."
