Today is Dennis OBryant day on EastTexasTownOnline.com. This was done in part to thrown the spotlight on the opening of his new show at the Visual Art Center but it is also done to highlight an artist that is involved in the community.
Some towns like Paducah, KY credit artists involvement as a critical success factor in the economic recovery of the town. These artists did not just move to the town and work on their art projects. They moved into the community and actively participated in the revitalization effort.
Dennis moved to Marshall and has done the same thing.
Dennis is well known for his artwork but he is also known as an active member of the community. He has worked hard to try and change the image of the community and constantly works on cleaning up the town.
Marshall is fortunate to have many good artists. They all are valuable assets to the community and can be instrumental is improving the towns image and helping to promote tourism.
Today we provide the readers a look at most of Dennis current work. His first work that really caught my attention was his Caddo Lake series. Then I saw his metal sculptures. It was great to see his mind working in 3-D.
