Downtown group wants a consultant
By BRIDGETTE R. OUTTEN, News Messenger
The Main Street Board of Directors is borrowing a page from the city's Tourism Task Force, in reaching a consensus Tuesday afternoon to use outside consultants to draft a development plan for downtown Marshall.
There was no quorum present, so the board couldn't officially vote on the measure at the 8:30 a.m. meeting held at the Preservation Center, but all of the members present agreed there is a need for a plan that secures downtown revitalization.
"It's very critical," said Henry Bradbury, chairman of the economic restructuring committee about the potential plan. "We're at the stage right now that a number of projects that have been completed show that work can be done downtown, but we don't have an overall direction of where it is we want to be when we grow up. So this will give us a road map."
