Two incumbents were returned to their seats by large margins in the Marshall city commission election.
No recounts will be necessary, according to Harrison County election officials.
In District 7, Ed Smith remains on the commission, coming out on top with a whopping 542 votes to opponent Cecil Forester's 315. Smith carried 63.2 percent of the total in the district.
Smith has served as chairman of the commission, or the equivalent of mayor. That position is decided upon by a vote of the city commission. Smith could not be reached for comment Saturday night.
Wilborn, who has been in office 20 years, said the fact he won with 83.3 percent of the vote total in his district was encouraging.
In District 6, where Bryan Partee decided not to run for re-election, Mike McMurry beat out Gene Baxter in the closest race of the election. He held a 146-vote lead over Baxter, 282 votes to 136. McMurry, who had 67.4 percent of the district total, said this is his first run at public office.
