The Marshall area economy continues to generate sales at a record-setting pace, according to figures released by the state on Friday.
A barometer of the Marshall area economy continued a long-running upward trend with figures showing sales tax revenues for the city were up more than 30 percent this month.
April sales tax rebate figures from the Texas Comptroller's Office show the city's share of sales tax revenues this month were $586,336, up 30.65 percent from April 2005 when the city treasury got $448,758. The April sales tax figures reflect taxable sales made in February, reported to the state in March with the local portion rebated back to cities across the state in April, officials said.
