Wiley College Raises Funds For Burned Alabama Churches
Marshall, TX - Nine rural churches in Alabama were destroyed by fire recently and two students attending Birmingham-Southern College (B-SC) have been arrested for those fires.

Keith Thompson, Vice President for Student Affairs for B-SC, who is also a United Methodist minister, stated, "If we are going to take the credit for the great accomplishments of so many of our alumni, we have to be prepared to take some responsibility for our current students when something like this happens."

The Wiley College Student Government Association (SGA) has begun an initiative to assist B-SC in raising funds to assist in the effort to rebuild these churches. According to Dr. Joseph Morale, Wiley College Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services, Wiley College students must be aware and responsive to the world outside of Wiley College and Marshall, Texas. To this end, the Wiley College SGA has committed to matching all funds raised by the Wiley College family during a campaign dubbed "The Alabama Church Burning Assistance Campaign." The SGA has challenged the student government leadership of all 117 HBCUs in this effort and would like your assistance as well.
