Wiley College Honors Local Women of Excellence

Wiley College will observe its annual "Women of Excellence" week from March 26 through March 30, 2006. Several successful women from across the nation, including the city of Marshall, representing various careers and backgrounds, will be honored during the week of activities. The Women of Excellence Awards Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, March 28, at 12:30 p.m. in the Alumni Gymnasium, following a special "Women of Excellence" convocation service scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in the Julius S. Scott, Sr. Chapel. Wiley College women, the honorees, and women from the Marshall community will march from Dogan Hall to the convocation service in a display of strength and solidarity for excellence.
Five outstanding women of excellence will be honored at the luncheon. These include: Michelle White, news anchor for KSLA Channel 12 in Shreveport, LA; Phyllis Bedford, co-founder of the Leslie K. Bedford Memorial Foundation; Elder Debra B. Morton, co-pastor of the Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA; Betty Maultsby, Regional Diversity Director for the U. S. Forest Service; and Janet Cook, Assistant City Manager for the City of Marshall.
