-- But It Is Not Inconsistent Treatment of People
Submitted by Ron Munden
Ms. Baileys comment at the March 9 City Commission highlighted a problem and I am not sure people understand what the real problem is.
Several months ago a group of people working on the Main Street Economic Restructuring Committee interviewed many of the people working on building projects in the downtown area.
It quickly became apparent that there were problems and that the problems were inconsistent guidance, inconsistent inspection, and inconsistent code enforcement. This inconsistency was not amongst individuals but between projects and even sub-projects.
Put in simple terms what was acceptable yesterday, is not acceptable today, but it might be acceptable tomorrow. It is difficult for a businessman to deal with a moving target. Based on our conversations the target is definitely moving.
