In the past, several ETTO articles said it appeared that Commissioner Hester was following Commissioner Smiths lead on many Commission votes.
If one looks at a series of recent votes one sees that, now this is certainly not true. The votes are related to the ordinance requiring City Board members to resign before running for the City Commission.
Mr. Hester said he thought the ordinance was a good ordinance and he still does.
There were three votes related to the ordinance:
1. Vote to enact the ordinance Commissioner Hester voted YES (only Katie Jones voted NO)
2. Vote to amend the ordinance to apply special exemptions Commissioner Hester voted NO (Carlile voted NO, Willams and Wilborn were absence)
3. Vote to repeal the ordinance. Commissioner Hester voted NO (All other Commissioners voted YES)
The votes do show that Commissioner Hester was consistent with his belief and he voted independent of the other Commissioners.
