It was a night for stand-ins at Monday's 92nd annual Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce banquet and membership meeting.
Nevertheless, the organization handed out several honors, including the traditional Outstanding Citizen and Ambassador of the Year, as well as special recognition for a city employee, a local organization, exemplary board member and long-time chamber supporters.
Jean Birmingham, former city commissioner and recipient of the chamber's 2002 Outstanding Citizen award, read a speech prepared by Chairman Ray Lawson, who is recovering from recent heart surgery.
Ms. Birmingham also presented this year's Outstanding Citizen, with the award being accepted on behalf of Sam Moseley by his brother, Bailey Moseley.
