Commissioner Thompson requests Senator to Lift Congressional Hold
Senator Hutchison reacted quickly to Commissioner Thompson's letter and lifted the ban.

Here is Commissioner Thompson's letter.

Dear Senator Hutchison:

The Harrison County Commissioners Court conducted a public hearing last night February 27,2006. At the public hearing over 85% of the public in attendance voiced their opposition to the use of any of the land at the former Longhorn Ammunition Plant for industrial use, and less than 15% of the public in attendance voiced their support for the use of lands at Longhorn for industrial development.

During Commissioners Court this morning February 28, I made the following motion:

That the Harrison County Commissioners Court request the Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison and the Honorable Louie Gohmert, to remove the temporary Congressional Hold and supports for the immediate transfer of the remaining property at the former Longhorn Ammunition Plant to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Department for the purpose, and sole intention of the Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge for its use and enjoyment by the public.
