INDUSTRIAL SITE OPPONENTS DECIDE AGAINST PARTICIPATING IN COUNT OF “SECRET BALLOT” MAILERS

Officers of the GCLA, City of Uncertain, and the Caddo Lake Chamber of Commerce and Tourism have decided they will decline an invitation from County Judge Wayne McWhorter to participate in counting the so-called “secret ballots” that were requested from some, but not all, Harrison County residents in a recent controversial mailer that was to be returned to the County Elections Supervisor.

“We were thinking about sending two representatives until we received a letter from District Attorney Joe Black, Jr., today advising us that there is no intact chain of custody that would protect the integrity of those so-called ballots,” said Jack Canson, spokesman for the group.

The District Attorney, in a registered letter received by Canson today, stated, “the ballots about which you inquire are not in the possession, nor under the control, of Harrison County. Our information is that those ballots are in the possession and under the control of the private citizens responsible for their creation and distribution.”
