Late at night under low light a crew removed the blue drape from Lady Liberty at the Justice Department. The effort of John Ashcroft to restore decency, protect our children, and improve homeland security was reversed with a sharp pair of wire-cutters.

The drape was moved to a secure location for safe keeping – just in case Mr. Ashcroft is re-appointed.

The Association for a Top Free America said they were thrilled by the news.

Ralph Weed, political consultant and part-time preacher, said “I can forgive a few torture memos but this action clearly demonstrates the Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is not qualified to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court”.

When asked about the $8000 price tag an unnamed Justice Department official said “Good bras are expensive – particularly when you order them in a size 96DD. Besides, with us spending a billion dollars a day on Iraq who is going to notice $8000?”.
