County commission candidates pledge to support the refuge
By JULIA ROBB, Special Projects Editor
Two county commissioner Precinct 4 candidates and both Harrison County judge candidates pledged their support for the Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge at a candidate forum here Thursday, and said they favor transferring the remaining federal property to the refuge rather than allowing the land to be used as an industrial site.
Commissioner candidate Marty Wright said he favors transferring the remaining 2,000 acres to the 6,500 acre refuge, as had been originally planned before Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison asked the U.S. Department of Defense to put a hold on the transfer.
