A HEARING WITHOUT A LAND USE PLAN IS MEANINGLESS
Submitted by Jack Canson
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchisons letter to the Marshall News Messenger, published in the Sunday February 6 edition and reprinted on this website, clarifies the standards promoters of the industrial site at Caddo Lake would have to meet before any Longhorn lands could be diverted to them.
Much attention has been paid to the fact that Judge Wayne McWhorter spent five months ignoring Sen. Hutchisons request that a public hearing be held on the issue and now says he intends to call one before the end of this month.
But the Senators letter makes it clear that any public hearing held about the Longhorn lands must include a presentation of a plan for use of the site, and that other conditions and standards must also be met.
