Wiley College Receives $100K Memorial Gift for Library
Wiley College recently received a $100,000 gift from the Brown Foundation of Houston, Texas to establish a special collections room in the Thomas Winston Cole, Sr. Library as a memorial to Mr. Henry G. Austin. In the announcement of this gift, the board of directors for the foundation acknowledged the lifelong friendship between Austin and Mr. George Brown, one of the family members for whom the foundation is named and also in recognition of being a recipient of an honorary doctorate from Wiley College.
"This gift will strengthen the resources of the Wiley College library and honor the memory of Henry Austin," stated a Brown Foundation representative. "Wiley College was an important institution to Mr. Austin and we think it appropriate to make this gesture in his memory."
