For those considering a trip downtown Saturday night, for the New Year's Eve festivities, the following state liquor laws might be helpful and have been supplied by Lt. Brian Williams and Sgt. Allan Cameron, of the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission.
Marshall has no additional rules that apply to liquor consumption.
An adult resident can take wine or beer from a bar to the street and drink it if that club has the proper wine or beer permit.
But mixed drinks cannot be taken off a bar's premises, anywhere in Texas. Premises however, means areas under the direct control of the permit holder and those areas could extend beyond the doors.
It is perfectly legal to bring alcoholic beverages from home and drink them anywhere of one's choosing, except where mixed drinks are sold.
