MEDCO helps land new plant for Marshall Business Park site
By JULIA ROBB, Special Projects Editor MNM

A Florida-based company that makes high density polyethylene corrugated pipe has purchased the Honeywell property at the Marshall Business Park and will take possession next month, according to Lou Ann Nisbett, Marshall Economic Development Corporation executive director.

Quality Culvert Incorporated closed on the Honeywell property this month and officials plan to put $4 million in capital investment in the site in 2006 and create 25 jobs, put another $4 million in capital investment in 2007 and create another 25 jobs and in 2008 invest another $3 million and create another 20 positions.

By 2010, the company will have invested $14 million and have created 100 jobs, Nisbett said.

Ms. Nisbett said she has worked with Quality Culvert officials for about seven months, since she learned the company – which is located in three other states, Wisconsin, Florida and North Carolina – was looking for property similar to the Honeywell site.

A Canadian company bought the Honeywell facility, which made wax products, in May, and closed it last summer, putting between 30 and 45 workers out of a job.
