An editorial in the Tuesday, December 12 Marshall News Messenger addressed a topic much discussed in the city these days regarding the Tourism Industry and whether or not the various publicly-funded entities in Marshall are doing their part to maximize the economic opportunities tourism stimulates.
The editorial did a good job of addressing those things it addressed. But to this readers mind, the editorial failed to address the single most important element that is out of synch with Marshalls interest in, and need for, economic development through tourism.
Hint: It starts with M and ends with EDCO.
The News Messenger piece was inspired by comments made by downtown Marshall developer Jerry Cargill regarding the visit to the area last week of Stan Hodge, Director of Tourism Research in the Governors Office of Economic Development & Tourism.
