Young and fresh, the musical talents of three East Texas residents will resound in harmony with the Marshall Symphony Orchestra at East Texas Baptist University's Baker Auditorium 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Taking the stage along with the local symphony are pianists Emily Wood Hirsch of Karnack and vocalists Amy Carlile and Ray Herman, both of Marshall. Hand-picked by the symphony's board and its long-time director, Leonard Kacenjar, this trio's inclusion sustains an ongoing tradition of showcasing up-and-coming talent, noted Fran Hurley, publicity chairman for the Marshall Symphony Society.
"Lenny (Kacenjar) very much likes to bring in young new artists and give them an opportunity, and highlight them. All three of these people fit into that category.
"We have a lot of seasoned musicians who play with us all the time, but Lenny is one of the few conductors that's willing to bring in young people and let them play in the symphony, and lots of times it makes a difference for them if they'll stay in music," she explained.
