Marshall will lose 55 jobs when PrintXcel closes in December, Marshall Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Lou Ann Nisbett disclosed at a Monday board meeting.
In a letter to the board, Plant Manager Tommy Reese said the closing is due to "a continued decline in demand for printed business forms."
PrintXcel will relocate its work to already existing, and larger, facilities in Girard, Kan., and Fairhope, Ala., Reese said, adding the plant will continue to operate over the next 60 days.
All employees affected by the closure will be given separation packages and outplacement assistance, and may have the opportunity to transfer to other PrintXcel facilities, the letter said.
Reese asked local business owners and managers to call him at 903-938-0777 if they have vacant employee positions they need to fill.
PrintXcel opened in Marshall in 1980 and once served about 800 regional retailers, Reese said.
In other business, MEDCO Treasurer Alan Grantham said the agency is doing well financially.
