Last year, $75,000 was raised by the event, a significant increase from the first year's total of $6,000. Ms. Chaler said she hopes to be "pleasantly surprised" once the funds are tallied for 2005. While many participating in or watching the bike games said they were "here for a good cause," Sittig has another perspective on the event. He believes Boo's recovery from such a severe accident is an example to others facing a difficult healing process, and encourages people to donate to the cause.
