The Greater Caddo Lake Association wants Ben Grant to preside over a public meeting proposed by Harrison County Judge Wayne McWhorter.

Association spokesman Jack Canson said the organization wants a public hearing which is "open, transparent and fair," adding that Grant is an "impartial, qualified person."

Grant is a former Harrison County district judge, a visiting judge, a former state legislator and was previously on the state 6th Court of Appeals.

McWhorter, however, has different ideas.

The judge said Friday that "if I am going to put on a public hearing, then I am going to run it. And it will be open transparent and fair, absolutely."
