Please mark the calendar on April 26-27, 2013, for the 42nd Annual Linden Wildflower Trails of Texas Festival, an event that occurs on the last full weekend of April each year. Starting off with the Little Miss Wildflower Trails Pageant on March 30, the festival promises flowers, fun, food, arts and crafts, and entertainment to suit every taste. Leading up to the festival, music lovers have a variety of options including the Blue Frog Preview Concert at Texas Music Barn on March 8; 11th Annual Texas Music Awards at Texas Music Barn on March 23; “Chasing Rita” in Concert at Music City Texas Theatre on March 30; Linden Lions Follies at Music City Texas Theatre on April 6; J.D.Souther in Concert at Music City Texas Theatre on April 12; and Jack Saunders and Robbie Saunders in Concert at Texas Music Barn on April 12. For the festival weekend, events include the Linden Garden Club Flower Show, “Home Town Pride,” at the Linden Garden Club Center on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27. The Cass County Championship Rodeo happens Friday and Saturday evenings. Saturday’s rodeo will be followed by fantastic fireworks viewable from the rodeo arena or from the grounds of Music City Texas Theatre on Legion Street. Saturday’s festivities include musical performances by the E-Flat Porch Band immediately after the 2 o’clock parade and a return visit from the Napper Sisters who will perform at 12:30 on the downtown stage; the annual 5K Race; arts and crafts booths; professional food vendors; the annual quilt show; the amateur art show and contest; children’s activities including a bouncy house; homemade ice cream; parade; old-fashioned cake walk; horseshoe tournament; classic car exhibit; and a concert at Texas Music Barn.
